Red Nose Reindeer Pops--Holiday Project #2

I bought this book a few weeks back at www.target.com they have a lot of fun activities inside. This is the first project that we selected out of the book. Me and the lil diva had a lot of fun completing this project. Actually she left me to do all of the work, stating that I was doing a much better job and she was sleepy.

Red Nose Reindeer Pops
Red pom-pom
Self-Adhesive Goggly Eyes
Brown Pipe Cleaners
10-inch Ribbon
Bells
Cling Wrap
Lollipops and Sticks
Clear and Double Stick Tape
1. Unwrap the lollipops(we actually used chocolate cake pops. Wrap them with cling wrap and secure the neck with clear tape
2.Tape the pipe cleaner and bend it around the neck to form the antlers. Place on the goggly eyes and apply double tape to secure the nose(pom-pom)
3. Wrap the bell around the neck

Salt Dough Ornaments-Holiday Project #1

Most of you if not all have your Christmas Tree up with sorts of AWESOME decorations. During this time of the year I'm always looking for little crafts for me and the little one to do("Creating Memories"). I was sent this e-mail from a friend a few weeks ago ( we just finished last weekend) and decide to share). Below is the recipe and some of the ornaments the Lil Diva made.....

Salt Dough Ornaments
Flour: 4 cups
Salt: 1 cup (yes, it’s a lot)
Hot Water: 1-1/2 cups

Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl. Knead and roll out the dough as you would for sugar cookies. Cut into fun shapes. Poke a hole with a pencil point through the top of each ornament. This will be where you’ll run your string or ornament hook through. You must do it before baking or lose your chance. Once the dough hardens, there’s no good way to make a hole without shattering the cookie.

Bake the dough in a toaster oven for a few minutes until it turns golden. Or you can bake at a low temperature (300 degrees) for three or four minutes. Watch the ornaments as they bake so they don’t burn. Let the ornaments cool. Then decorate, paint, glue on eyes, or add clothing. String a ribbon through the hole.

If you use a good craft shellac, you can preserve these ornaments from year to year. Ask at your craft store for craft shellac that will work on dough ornaments. It’s easy to find and you will have no trouble using it. Brush it on with a paintbrush on the front and back and sides of the ornament. Just remember to throw out any brushes you used for paint (or wash and put them away for another craft). Don’t use the brushes for food-grade ornaments you plan to eat. It’s ok to wash and reuse any cookie cutters on food as the dough is perfect

Cookie Monster....

These are the most recent pops for the week...Last night I was up until 2 am in the morning working on the cake pops below... I have no idea what I was thinking waiting until the wee hours to complete this project. I should have remembered that I was going to be in for the long haul after making those Elmo Pops a few months back... Either way I guess this was a eye-opening experience. I'll be working on 45 cake pops and and 20 gingerbread cookies this weekend... You should already know that I will be breaking those up, I refuse to stay up another night. Especially, a night when I have to wake back up in four hours to answer the phone all day..

Take A Button...

I had to do this quick post today, while I still remembered(nothing like short-term memory). I don't mind attending classes to learn new things especially if its going to benefit my business.  I've been surfing around to ALOT of different sites to say the least, looking at all of the cute "Buttons" people have on their pages. If your not familiar "buttons"  they are quick logo images you can grab and add to your current site. For the individual with a button it is a way for you to drive more traffic to your site, with the overall goal to INCREASE your business. So with that being said, I decided to give it a try and create my very own "button". After a random search I ran across this site on oikology101.blogspot.com (check out the link below), that provided step by step instructions. This is only my first badge for now and I plan on doing a make-over on this page mid 2012, which will obviously include a new button ... So if you don't mind take a button and post to your page..

Below are the complete cake pops that I finished last night. If you have been following the blog you would know that I gave a preview these earlier in the week. I'm very happy how these came out. Although there are not "spiked" like the pumpkin pops they are still delicious. Be sure to come back for Cake Pop #2 Follow-Up....

I have a few more orders coming up this week and leading into the following. In addition to cooking for Thanksgiving and being on-call, I'm not quite sure where I will get to fit some sleep in... Texas Graduate

The last few few weeks have been very busy for me(good thing). The lil diva and I along with my lil for who flew down from Seattle, WA drive to Texas(Houston) last week. We headed down to Houston, TX to see my mother graduate with her Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice from Remington College. Can I say how proud I am of her that she completed her program and will be starting her BA degree in January. She is a true example that no matter what happens in life, it's never TOO late to continue with your education. At her request I made a few cookies continues to celebrate her accomplishment!!!
